Tables & Columns

Customize Companion tables with sorting, filters, widths, order, and visibility.

Companion tables are designed to be reshaped around the current task. A compact incident triage view and a detailed customer review can use different columns and filters.

Search the visible dataset

Use the search field above a table for free-text matching. An information icon appears when some columns are intentionally excluded from free-text search; filter those columns directly instead.

Column menu

Open a column heading menu to:

  • sort ascending or descending;
  • use an alternate sort when the column offers one, such as low-to-high or high-to-low;
  • clear sorting;
  • select one or more filter values;
  • apply a secondary filter where available;
  • hide the column.

Only one sort is active at a time. Active search text and column filters work together.

Arrange the table

  • Drag column handles to change their order.
  • Drag a column boundary to resize it.
  • Use the columns control to show a hidden field again.
  • Choose Reset view to restore default order, widths, visibility, filters, and sort.

The Companion stores column order, widths, filters, hidden columns, and sort separately for each table in the current browser. If browser storage is unavailable, changes still work for the current session but may not persist.

A hidden column is not missing data. Reveal it from the columns control or reset the table view.
